President Mr Abu Mohamed Speech during PKMS's 21st Biennial General Meeting

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Yang Berbahagia Pengerusi Tetap,

Yang Berbahagia Timbalan Pengerusi Tetap,

Yang Berhormat Pemangku Timbalan Presiden, Saudara Ismail Mohd Yaacob,

Yang Berhormat Pemangku Naib Presiden I, Saudara Raja Md Khalid Bin Raja Adnan,

Yang Berhormat Naib Presiden II, Saudara Abdul Mutalib Bin Ithnin,

Ketua-Ketua Pergerakan Pemuda dan Wanita,

Ahli-Ahli Majlis Tertinggi dan Para Perwakilan,

Yang Berbahagia Mantan Mantan Presiden, Pemerhati Khas, Pemerhati Pemerhati,
Tuan-Tuan dan Puan-Puan yang saya hormati sekalian.

Assalam’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

NABI  BERSABDA  PADA  UMMATNYA;
CARILAH  ILMU  SAMPAI  NEGERI  CINA;
ORANG  MELAYU  HENDAK  ARAH  KEMANA;
KALAU  TAK  BOLEH  BERKERJA  SAMA;

POHON  MERANTI  SI POHON  JATI;
DIPOTONG  POTONG  DIBUAT  PAPAN;
KALAU  KITA  TAK  BERSATU  HATI;
HANCUR  MUSNAHLAH  MASA  HADAPAN;

Wabillahitaufik Walhidayah Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and Most Merciful
Respected Chairman,
Deputy Chairman,
Acting Vice President, Mr Ismail Mohd Yaacob,
Acting Vice President I, Mr Raja Md Khalid Bin Raja Adnan,
Vice President II, Mr Abdul Mutalib Ithnin,
Heads of the Youth and Women’s Wings,
Executive Council members and Representatives,
honoured former presidents, members, ladies, and gentlemen.
Assalam’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
May peace be upon you and with the mercy of Allah and His blessings
Alhamdulillah, wealth of praises to Allah, the Most Generous, Most Gracious, who with His permission has allowed us to gather in this distinguished meeting. Selawat and praises to our Prophet Muhammad SAW whose leadership must be exemplified.
The current administration and I are on the path to introducing means and measures to attain solidarity and reformation, so as to put the past incidents which has tarnished the good name of the Singapore Malay National Organisation or PKMS, behind.
The solidarity here refers to us working together, hand in hand, in accordance to the PKMS Constitution.
The reformation and advancements are towards being global Malays, to restore the image of PKMS in the eyes of Singaporeans, especially the Malay Muslim community.
There is still much to be done, contributed and organised for the Singapore society.
This is possible through the presence and charisma of leaders and support from the secretariat, all of whom possess the critical thinking and understanding needed.
We must think and execute initiatives together for the betterment of the Malay community, not for individual importance.
Allow me to remind the current leaders and secretariat not to forget the deeds and experiences of past leaders. Derive lessons and guidance from them in order to continue in this fight for excellence with PKMS.
We must follow their excellent examples and learn, so as to improve the PKMS fight, which has witnessed much blood, sweat, toil and tears. A party, that has done much for the society.
Respected members,
As we adopt the notion of learning from the past, I urge you, as of today 5th February 2012, 12 Rabiulawal of 1433 Hijrah, to open a new chapter with PKMS, the party we all hold so close to our hearts. With renewed determination and commitment, let us partner the more than half a million Singaporean Malay/Muslims to carve continued success at the national level. Be it in religion, politics, socio-economy, education, culture and many other fields of importance.
We do not want to lag as a community in all aspects. There is no other way, except to enhance our knowledge and skills, invest more hard work and let’s not forget our best weapon, doa and tawakal to Allah SWT.
Allah has said: “When you have strived, place tawakal upon Me.”
Members, as bumiputera or natives of the country, we are facing a huge challenge in our very own homeground. We and other Singaporeans need to grab opportunities in the employment, economy and usage of infrastructure at a ratio of 3:2 (60:40). For every 3 Singaporeans, there will be 2 foreigners competing for the same thing.
We need to enhance national awareness amongst ourselves in order to understand how the government works and the socioeconomy that will affect us. After which, we should then strategise our way and grab whatever socioeconomic opportunities that may arise.
We also need to be aware of the geopolitics in Asean and take note of all developments as well as their global implications, which in turn will affect our lives.
In essence, we need to be prepared to manage current issues plaguing us, be it within Singapore or outside, because it will produce negative and positive effects in the Malay Muslim community of Singapore.
May I please ask all to rise from your seats to show our gratitude to the forefathers, the past warriors of PKMS. Thank you.
As we understand, it is the norm to have differences of opinion within a party. But what’s important is that the differences, discourses, must bring benefit, not disruption. Hence, let’s offer our utmost respect to the party of PKMS.
With this, I end my speech with two pantun:
NABI  BERSABDA  PADA  UMMATNYA;
CARILAH  ILMU  SAMPAI  NEGERI  CINA;
ORANG  MELAYU  HENDAK  ARAH  KEMANA;
KALAU  TAK  BOLEH  BEKERJA  SAMA;
POHON  MERANTI  SI POHON  JATI;
DIPOTONG  POTONG  DIBUAT  PAPAN;
KALAU  KITA  TAK  BERSATU  HATI;
HANCUR  MUSNAHLAH  MASA  HADAPAN;
Wabillahitaufik Walhidayah Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Terima kasih.

PKMS/SMNO 2010 till 2012

Let him who would enjoy a good future waste none of his present and learn from his past. Much has happened, much could have been learned but most importantly moving ahead with an ultimate goal befitting and deserving of an organization that has so much potential but sadly yet to have it realized.

2011 was the beginning of prominence, although premature,it may be a blessing in disguise as it revolted a welcoming change. Progress and changes has been rapid and still ongoing as we speak. With the much anticipated PKMS 21st Binennial General Meeting (BGM) successfully held last 5th February 2012, more is expected out of the new and rejuvenated Supreme Council line up. Will they be able to rise to the occasion and be accounted for? Would Mr Abu Mohamed the President leading the 21st Supreme Council of PKMS be able to bring about finally the much desired stability and importantly revel PKMS back to prominence...... The voice that once mattered had since been silent and crippled over a decade of undesirable infighting and facade. Can we win back the masses again? Can we be that change? Can we truly befit what that has since long past; be the people's representative and be relevant in the ever-changing political arena! Only time will tell. With integrity and a sense of public mission, I hope and pray that may 2012 be the year of change.

May I not be judge before I do. May I be Great if I'm allowed to.
May I make History with all that has comed hereto,
Because Legacies are made from days like tho. - Abdul Mutalib Ithnin

Launch of PKMS/SMNO Education Programmes

It has been acknowledge that Globalization have driven many changes in many spectrum of the economy. As such the learning paradigm needs to be reshaped in tandem and evolve, so as to meet the new challenges. The education of a country’s citizen is therefore a critical factor in determining its future.
With a vision of amplifying knowledge, skills and abilities, we believe SMNO Education Bureau would be able to add-value and complement the current quality driven education system hence providing a strong foundation and comprehensiveness of a broad base education in Singapore.
With that strong beliefs,Singapore Malay National Organisation (SMNO) will be re-opening its Tuition Scheme, integrated with the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) approach, to primary school students.

The SMNO Tuition Scheme, or Ikhlas (Sincerity) Project, is managed by the Education Bureau of SMNO spearheaded by myself and assisted by a team of experience, well qualified tutors and motivational trainers.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is an umbrella term that refers to students' acquisition of skills to recognize and manage emotions, develop care and concern for others, make responsible decisions, establish positive relationships, and handle challenging situations effectively.

Briefly it refers to skills to manage self, relate to others and make decisions.
We strongly believe Social and Emotional competencies help students to achieve his or her academic best.
For example;
-Self Management skills like impulse control and stress management help students to priortize. It also helps them to deal with negative emotions like anger and anxiety, so that they can concentrate better in class.
-Relationship Management skills help students to reduce interpersonal conflicts that result in negative emotions. These skills also enable students to be more effective in obtaining the help they need from others for their studies.
-Moral Education via Culture and Religion. Instill principle, code of acceptable behavior and conduct via teaching of ISLAM.

All of which would be further reitierate to the students via our Motivational Approach
  • Help motivate your child/student to be their best (Establishing Mentorship and Moral Support group)
  • Use tools that are innovative for learning  and effective (Mutlimedia,video, photo, graphic and etc)
  • Equip with practical and effective study skills

We want to equip students with the ideal learning skills, besides instilling the importance of education in their lives. In short, we intend to make learning meaningful and fun for them.

The Past & Present Leaders of PKMS / SMNO

The Leadership Succession
Leaders are chosen by their peers, where all his successes and failures would solely be the responsibility of those who chose him in the first place. Ironically, PKMS evolved and changed its direction with every succession. This will be a tribute to all benevolent leaders of PKMS and their sacrifices. Their efforts had left us with a rich heritage and legacy to champion.
